Mael Walkowiak

Mael Walkowiak PVCF Trainer, CSCS

Mael is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and a former Division 1 athlete. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2008. His first WOD was a scaled version of “Murph.” In Mael’s own words, “the workout vanquished me!” After his poetic initiation, he used CrossFit as a strength and conditioning tool to help him stay competitive while playing lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he earned a bachelors degree in English. Today, Mael is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Mael is honored to coach athletes at PVCF and can’t see himself doing anything else. He takes pride in teaching people how to learn from his own training mistakes and says that, “any time someone can avoid a headache, heartache, or backache because of something I taught them, then it is worth it.” He recorded a 101 kilo snatch and 126 kilo clean and jerk taking third place in the 2013 Tri-mountain Open Weightlifting meet. He also logged the most penalty minutes while playing semi-pro lacrosse over the summer! One of Mael’s favorite quotes comes from Zig Ziglar: “You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”. If you're interested in Personal Training with Mael, click here to buy a session.

Perrin Hendrick

PVCF's Chief Executive Officer/Managing Partner. perringiggybotte

Perrin’s relationship with CrossFit began in 2007 after he took a class with a friend in California. The group structure, support, and healthy competition that CrossFit offered immediately resonated with him. It was also a total blast! He became interested in the potential to be a part of an environment that allowed for personal growth and positive transformation through the physical discipline that CrossFit demands. Pioneer Valley CrossFit has grown out of a collective vision of community involvement and excellence in movement. Perrin holds numerous CrossFit certifications and has spent many years studying aboriginal survival arts. One of the things he appreciates most about CrossFit is that it keeps him young enough to enjoy his interests of bow hunting, fly fishing, surfing, oil painting, primitive survival skills, and being a Dad.
