As an ER doctor for over thirty years, Coach Mike has honed his skills of observation to a fine point, making him uniquely qualified as a coach. As a Crossfit L1 trainer and OPEX trained, his enthusiasm is infectious. Coach Mike describes the evolution of his passion for fitness and for Masters Athletes in particular: “I have sutured lacerations, reduced fractures, saved lives and held the hands of the dying. Yet, I am troubled by those I cannot help in the ER - desk-bound, addicted to convenience food and sugar, over fat, anxious, in chronic pain, with illnesses which medicine alone won’t heal. But, they can be well. Fitness, lifestyle and nutrition training have given me the prescription. That is why I became a coach, that is why I love to coach and that is why I am so grateful to PVCF for their vision and commitment to fitness.” Together with Coach Ayn, Mike created our Masters Program for anyone 40-100 years old; it is focused on those who have been injured, suffer from lifestyle related illness or just want to stay fit as they age. Filled with the California sun where she grew up, Haley came to Western Mass after UMASS recruited her for their rowing team. Having always been a competitive swimmer and rower, she was a celebrated teammate immediately. After winning the A10 championships 3 of the 4 years, her team went on to race at the NCAA championships. Her sophomore year, she placed 9th at Youth Nationals in the Varisty 8; and her junior year, she placed 2nd in the Lightweight 4. Haley's substance, athleticism and cooperation made her Captain for her senior year. Haley brings this leadership into her CrossFit coaching. She feels the team atmosphere at PVCF is a natural extension to be amongst athletes that push themselves to be greater every day. When she is not at the gym, Haley loves spending time with her husband, Damian, and also can be found in the studio painting or working with ceramics.

Originally from Duxbury, MA, I grew up in a small town where sports were everything. From a very young age, I dove in to every sport I could play. While I played football, lacrosse, baseball and basketball, my true loves were Football and Lacrosse. I competed in an extremely competitive AAU Baseball League from the ages of 12 to 16, traveling all over the US playing in games and tournaments. In High School, I was introduced to CrossFit because on Friday’s, the conditioning part of our workout was some sort of AMRAP. I was hooked and I wanted to start CrossFit. I started CrossFit in May of 2015 and I’ve never turned back. 3 months later I started at Pioneer Valley CrossFit where I learned so much about the sport and myself as an athlete. I knew I wanted to become a trainer so I interned at Pioneer Valley CrossFit for a semester. I also love to compete in CrossFit and challenge myself in other events like Sealfit 20X Challenge and Reebok Ragnar Races, which I have both completed. Truly, I love being active outdoors whether its hiking, playing sports, or just hanging at the beach. CrossFit L1 and CrossFit L2 Trainer
